NSBE Jr. is a pre-college initiative associated with the National Society of Black Engineers (NSBE). The National Society of Black Engineers is one of the largest student-governed, non-profit, organizations in the country. NSBE, initiated in 1975 currently has over 30,000 members, and over 150 chapters worldwide.
The Howard County NSBE Jr. Chapter, also known as the Next Generation Leadership Academy (NGLA) has over 50 members in grades 6-12, representing Howard, Baltimore, Prince Georges and Anne Arundel Counties.
Our members receive valuable training activities and engagements designed to:
Promote Academic Excellence
Expose students to technology careers and education opportunities
Advance their personal development and social capital
All students in grades 6-12 are welcome to join, regardless of race, religion, or gender.

The mission of the National Society of Black Engineers is “to increase the number of culturally responsible Black Engineers who excel academically, succeed professionally and positively impact the community.”
